All you need to eliminate the step of adding apc.so to your php.ini file is to compile PHP with the &#039;--with-config-file-scan-dir=/path/to/files&#039; option.

Then just drop a file in that location called &#039;apc.ini&#039; with the contents of the APC config, and you&#039;re set.</description>
